It is 12:51 am and I am hand-stitching a little flannel kimono for a co-worker's baby shower. It's in tan flannel and will be edged in denim-blue bias tape with some red bandanna accents (the baby's stuff is going to be all in Old West type gear). After that, I'm going to appliqué a little felt sheriff's badge to the front.
I don't think I cut it right, but at least my top-stitching has improved since high school.
So we got a new vacuum cleaner today. It's a Eureka Optima, fondly re-named Optimus Prime. Our little stick vacuum wasn't doing the trick, and believe me, it was time. So I looked at the local places to see what the cheapest options were, and then did some 'net research and found out that this is actually the perfect solution for our little place. I like it. I like it a lot.
Gay marriage was just legalised in CA by the state supreme court.
Life is beautiful.
MY BOYFRIEND IS AT THIS MOMENT BUYING TICKETS FOR NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS AT CRYSTAL BALLROOM IN PDX.
PLEASE EXCUSE THE CAPSLOCKS BUT THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT MOMENT OF MY LIFE.
Monday, Sep 22 @ 9:00 PM, McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - Portland, Oregon.
If anyone wants to come with us, buy tickets and call me. We'll share a hotel room or something.
OMFG NICK CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE.
EDIT: Bought. Fucking bought.
Since Ryan and I are such computer people, we're making the main room of our house mostly into one big computer space. Sure we have a TV, but we rarely use it. We also can't afford a couch, so we're just taking up the extra space with separate computer tables.
He is at work, so he doesn't know this yet, but I went to Michaels and bought a bunch of cork squares to make us our own bulletin spaces on the wall behind each of our desks. I bought two packs, which means four squares (about 1ft sq) and am painting them alternating light grey and dark. I might have to get more paint tomorrow because boy does cork soak up liquid, lol! I bought some magnetic paint, too, but a) I don't know that it'll work on the cork, and b) I don't know about having it that close to the computers.... I think I'll return it tomorrow.
I'm also itching to try this idea of pouring enamel paint into soda bottles to create funky little flower vases. I might get some of that tomorrow as well, because that'd be lots of fun.
I would say pics to come, but I broke my little digicam. Ryan said we can probably buy my expensive one I've been wanting this payday if we have enough cash after paying bills and putting money into savings.
Oh God please don't make me go to work today!!!!
:((
I applied to join a really nice, popular (but v. high quality) illustration club on dA after I finished and submitted my piece yesterday. I have yet to hear back, but keep your fingers crossed for me.
This month (May) the theme is 'Labyrinth'
It made me giggle.
Here is the illustration I drew inspired by the challenge, rather than a submission, because as of yet, I am not a member:
