Last week was a 50% off week, so I bought this book I'd been interested in for a while called Fitted Knits by Stephanie Japel (who is, interestingly, a geologist focusing on mineral physics as her day job...go fig). So I'm knitting a sweater, and hopefully, if I play my cards right, it will look something like this:
I'm not doing blue and pink, but sage and dark olive for the ribbing.
Knitting has seriously been keeping me sane the last few days, and all I could think about at work today was getting home to knit some more. I'm really proud of how even my stitches are, and how nicely I picked up how to do increases and things... So, I pick up my knitting as soon as I get home and find out that Paris has gnawed my working yarn in half. I almost had a panic attack, but picked up The Knitting Answer Book, which Ryan bought me, and read up on how to fix it. Thankfully, I can, it'll just take some effort on my part.
And this post is jumbled because I'm half asleep and keep losing my train of thought. G'night.
Because we had a rather tight Christmas, Ryan and I decided it might be fun to do really nice Easter baskets. He got me a lot more than I got him for x-mas, so I've decided to go all-out on him. Well, as much as I can with the measly paycheck I got (it was supposed to be more--apparently one of the managers is shaving hours, illegally I might add). We decided on a zombie theme (because, hey, what other day of the year can we celebrate the rising of one of History's most famous of un-dead?) and instead of baskets, we're getting bags or containers for each other. I found the most darling zombie cupcake bookbag on etsy, along with soap made with Guinness (one of his fav. drinks), a novelty CD of really bad covers of Depeche Mode songs (the packaging is delightfully cheap as well--it's all just as horrible as I had hoped it would be), and this shirt. I'm in the process of negotiating a bento box full of sushi soaps as the last gift, as well.
I am an awesome girlfriend. :)
EDIT: And the sushi is MIIIIIINE!!!! *does a little dance* I officially own Easter.
So, everyone at Michaels has been in a flutter all this past week, planning for today: Black Friday. I've worked T-day and the day after since I've started working. I don't think I've had it off in years. And unlike everyone else, I'm not worried. All I have to do is serve a whole bunch of people who will be crankier than usual due to turkey overdose and an overindulgence in pumpkin pie. Bring it on, Longview, bring it on.
Ok, so our day yesterday consisted of my boy and I walking the two miles to Fred Meyers for some T-day shopping. We got some necessary things, including a space saver for behind the toilet and another cheap folding table for my craft things and books. We also found this truly beautiful apothecary's cabinet on clearance for $120. We vacillated over whether to buy or not, and finally decided that we should. And wouldn't you believe it, when we got to the register, we found out that all clearance was an extra 40% off the last marked price. In total, we spent $151, which rocks because we thought, with everything, that it was going to be $250. Rock.
After that, we came home and puttered around setting up all the furnishings we had bought and cleaning out the place before dinner. For that, instead of cooking or going home and whatnot, we went to Sizzler--the only place open, and oddly quiet once we got there. My steak was overcooked, but the salad bar was divine.
Oh, also, Ryan bought me this 5 DVD collection called Girls Gone Bad, which has 24 films from the 30s to the 60s including: Reefer Madness, Sex Madness, She Shoulda Said No, and Bad Girls Go To Hell. Yeah, that's gonna be fun :D
Again, back to work, I have to work from 11 to 4, which isn't bad all things considered. I also get paid today. I plan to buy myself a pair of shoes because I have only one and they are falling apart. I can feel the street through the soles of them. Heh.

What are your resolutions for 2007?
To lose 20 more pounds (already 20 down, wooot!), buy more clotheses (because I need them, it's not an unnecessary expence), and get myself a computer (still deciding which...).
I bought clothes yesterday, including an outfit to wear out last night. Let's see...I got a lot of work shirts for $150, and that's nothing to sneeze at. I seriously purchased about five shirts, a skirt, a leather jacket, and socks and bras for that amount. Aren't employee discounts nice? I also bought shoes and tights after that for about $20, lol. My bank account is gonna be hurting, but I get my financial aid refund pretty soon (which is going in my savings account as soon as I buy books and new pants, lol. Because I forgot I needed pants when I bought all those shirts) and will be fine.
I also get to keep my job, yay! And ever since Christmas, I've been getting really nice hours. That'll end as soon as school starts, but for now, I'm not going to turn my nose up at another 36 hour week (which this is, lol). It'll be almost like a real paycheck again.
And now I'm going to leave early and go buy breakfast because I just can't be arsed to make anything reasonable good for myself. I hope everyone had a lovely New Years and that 2007 brings you nothing buy absolute joy and many reasons for living.
